Quiznos’ faxes lead to almost $5M settlement

A Quiznos franchise reached a $4.9 million settlement with St. Louis class members for sending out unwanted advertising faxes. In the settlement agreement reached on May 26, Global Bizdimensions maintained it believed that the recipients had given their consent to receive the food advertising specials by fax. The faxes sent out were advertising lunch specials for Global Bizdimensions' Quiznos Subs franchise location in Crestwood.

La Russa scores win after Twitter error

St. Louis Cardinals manager and lawyer Tony La Russa hopes to end his legal battle with Twitter this week. In early May, La Russa filed a lawsuit against the "micro-blogging" Web site alleging a trademark infringement when it failed to remove an anonymous account posing as La Russa. The fake Twitter account had a picture of La Russa and used his name, making it appear that he was the one responsible for the postings. The account's "tweets," or postings, made derogatory comments toward La Russa and the Cardinals.
