County courts fully back open

Monday, the first day the St. Louis County Courts building reopened, was not without its hiccups. Attorneys who showed up first thing in the morning were turned away. Many were not aware that hearings and conferences were canceled. Later in the day, attorneys were allowed to enter the building. The court was operating on a semi-emergency schedule with staff and judges in the building but with all dockets canceled because of the generator fire that closed the complex all of last week. Jury trials were pushed back to start on Tuesday. Cassidy Dobson, a clerk at the St. Louis County Courthouse, goes through the mail that piled up during the court's shutdown last week.

St. Louis County courts likely closed all week

The St. Louis County Courts building will be closed Wednesday and possibly longer after the building lost power on Monday. County officials are optimistic that power will be restored to government buildings sometime Thursday, but the structures will probably not be open for business until Monday. The St. Louis County Circuit Court set up in the rotunda of the Buzz Westfall Justice Center to accept emergency orders.

Electrical fire shuts down St. Louis County courts

The St. Louis County Courts Building will remain closed Tuesday and possibly longer after an electrical fire knocked out power on Monday. A fire in the boiler room of the government complex may have been sparked by a lightning strike. The power outage caused St. Louis County courts to set up in the entryway of the courthouse Monday morning to handle essential court business. Fire closes St. Louis County Court until Wednesday

St. Louis County Circuit Court is closed at least through Tuesday after an electrical fire started in the boiler room of the County Government Center following a storm earlier this morning. According to David Wrone, public information manager of public works, the cause of the fire is not known. The fire took out the power grid of several government buildings.

Bombing mystery still unsolved

The 16th of October started as just another ordinary day for the employees at 190 Carondelet in Clayton. They got up, ate breakfast and went to work like normal, going about their typical workday. But then it all changed. At approximately 11 a.m., a bomb detonated in the parking garage of the building, that housed several law firms. The explosion rocked the building and all employees had to be evacuated. In their hurry many left their purses, cell phones and keys behind.
