Judicial commissioners elected

Lawyers in the Western District have selected Kansas City attorney J.R. Hobbs (pictured) for a position on the Appellate Judicial Commission. In results finalized Saturday, the St. Louis and Jackson County circuit courts also announced new attorney members. Steven L. Groves will join the commission for 22nd Circuit. Scott Bethune was elected to the judicial commission that selects nominees for vacancies in the 16th Circuit. Meanwhile, attorneys Richard Wuestling IV and Matthew Rossiter will be facing off in a runoff election for a position on the St. Louis County Circuit Judicial Commission.

Fraud recovery pace likely to slow

The Missouri Attorney General's Office has collected a recording-setting $77 million this year for Medicaid fraud. But Attorney General Chris Koster said he isn't so sure his office would be able to maintain those high amounts of recovery.

"If the pharmaceutical companies change their practices, then we'll have to go back to finding fraud the hard way," he said. "I love seeing the big collection numbers, but I'm not so sure that it will always be this way."
