Former Chief Justice Rendlen dies at age 87

Former Missouri Supreme Court Chief Justice Albert L. Rendlen, who died Monday, was known for both his charisma and his strong opinions. They aren't something that his former brother-in law will forget. "He was an avid Republican and all my family was Democratic," said Robert Clayton II, the presiding judge of Marion County. "It made for some lively conversations and some interesting Sunday dinners."

Freeman named to Academy of Missouri Squires

Prominent legal and civil rights activist Frankie Freeman was named as a member of the Academy of Missouri Squires on Thursday.

Freeman, 92, is currently of counsel to the St. Louis law firm of Montgomery Hollie & Associates and has been a practicing attorney in state and federal courts for more than 60 years.

Also named with Freeman as members of the Academy are: Peter Herschend, founder and co-owner of Herschend Family Entertainment Corp.; Dr. Jack Magruder, president of A.T. Still University in Kirksville; and radio broadcaster Mike Shannon.
