Supreme Court grants new trial to plaintiffs in deadly crash

Almost six years after a fiery crash on Interstate 70 killed a state trooper and severely injured another driver, the Missouri Supreme Court said lawyers for the victims are entitled to take another crack at the maker of the car that burned. "This has been a long battle," said the plaintiffs' lawyer Edward "Chip" Robertson (pictured), of Bartimus, Frickleton, Robertson & Gorny in Jefferson City. In May 2003, a truck rear-ended Missouri Highway Patrol Trooper Michael Newton's Crown Victoria patrol car on Interstate 70, where he had pulled over Michael Nolte for a minor traffic violation.
