Crystal City has become the fourth city in Jefferson County to pass legislation that requires a prescription for products containing pseudoephedrine — the main ingredient used to make methamphetamine. The council voted 5-2 to approve the ordinance at its Aug. 8 meeting. Ward 4 Council Member Ken Duncan and Debbie McKenna from Ward 3 voted against the bill and Ted Knatcal of Ward 1 was absent from the meeting.

The Festus City Council announced last week that it has upheld the decision to fire former city administrator Terry Draper. Draper was fired on May 4, following a more than two hour executive session by the City Council. A public hearing was held at Festus City Hall June 27 regarding Draper’s firing, but neither Draper nor his attorney, Chet Pleban, attended, as Pleban had a prior commitment.
