St. Louis solo practitioner Ira Berkowitz (pictured) sued The St. Petersburg Times on behalf of a St. Louis cardiologist. On Aug. 28, a jury levied a $10.1 million verdict against the Florida newspaper. If it stands, the verdict will rank among the top 10 largest defamation awards against media institutions over the last 30 years.
