Medical billing statute gets hearing

A Missouri appeals court heard arguments Tuesday morning about the meaning of the medical billing statute - a subject with no current caselaw to draw from. Paul Hasty, who represents Charles Danter, a driver who hit a pedestrian, argued that the pedestrian, James Berra, should not have been allowed to present to the jury medical bills totaling just more than $90,000. The nearly $29,000 Medicare paid satisfied Berra's financial obligation to his health care providers, he argued.
