The Missouri Court of Appeals Eastern District has upheld a $27 million verdict against a company for allegedly manufacturing faulty breathing equipment that led to a firefighter's death. Fire chief’s demotion upheld

A St. Louis Circuit judge has upheld the city's decision to demote an ex-fire chief. The St. Louis City Civil Service Commission first upheld Sherman George's demotion last August and George (pictured) appealed the commission's decision to the circuit court. Judge Robert Dierker affirmed the commission's decision on Friday and had asked the commission to supplement its findings of fact and conclusions of law regarding Sherman George's claims of racial discrimination and constructive discharge. The commission has 60 days to turn the decision over to the court.
