Lawyer charged with fraud

A St. Louis-area lawyer accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from clients’ accounts has been indicted. Federal prosecutors have charged Steven P. Gartenberg with three counts of mail fraud. He practiced at the Gartenberg Law Firm in Brentwood, but the Missouri Supreme Court suspended his law license last March.

House committee OKs sovereignty measure

A measure to assert Missouri sovereignty from the federal government got an airing and a vote of confidence Tuesday in a House committee. The proposed constitutional amendment by Rep. Paul Curtman would declare that Missouri shall not enforce federal laws, judicial rulings or other actions that go beyond the U.S. government’s limited powers.

Man hurt in crash gets jury win

A man injured after a tube of straw fell off a truck in front of him on a highway won $450,000 from a federal jury in St. Louis.

Paul Del Grosso and his wife, Esther Del Grosso, sued State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co., their carrier, after the September 2009 crash on U.S. Highway 40.
