Study released on Missouri state workers’ salaries, benefits

A Missouri salary and benefits study has been released showing state workers are paid on average 10.4 percent below the market rate.

The study found that benefits offered by the state are above market, but state employees remain 4.6 percent below market when their base salary, incentives and benefits are combined.

Commissioner of Administration Doug Nelson says the study will help determine what can be done to help the state attract and retain qualified workers.

The report includes a comprehensive compensation study for state employees. The compensation study includes a review of current compensation practices, an update on the compensation plan and a benefits analysis.
