Tight vote leaves questions about execution’s constitutionality

In a 4-3 ruling, the Missouri Supreme Court concluded that John Middleton was competent to be executed under U.S. Supreme Court precedent. Judges George W. Draper III, Laura Denvir Stith and Richard B. Teitelman dissented.
