Bryan Cave partner Charles Weiss will help evaluate federal judge nominees as a member of the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary.

Weiss starts his duties this month, the firm said Thursday in a press release announcing Weiss’s appointment. The committee assesses the professional qualifications of prospective nominees to district, appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court and reports to the White House, Department of Justice and the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The committee focuses strictly on qualifications such as integrity, professional competence and judicial temperament, steering clear of questions of political affiliation and philosophy.

Weiss has served in the ABA House of Delegates and on its Board of Governors and is a member of the ABA’s Standing Committee on Law and National Security. He is a past president of The Missouri Bar and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis.

Weiss has more than 35 years of experience in business and complex litigation.
