Leila Nadya Sadat
Washington University law professor Leila Nadya Sadat was recently invited to become a member of the prestigious Council on Foreign Relations.
Sadat, a former member of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom, is known internationally for her work on crimes against humanity, war crimes, and genocide. She is also one of the world’s leading experts on the International Criminal Court.
“The council is very influential, and it is a great honor to be selected,” Sadat said. “I am looking forward to participating in council activities, and bringing my expertise in human rights and international criminal justice to CFR projects and activities.”
Sadat will be in distinguished company. CFR’s ranks include top government officials, renowned scholars, business leaders, acclaimed journalists, prominent lawyers and distinguished non-profit professionals. Other members include former Secretaries of State Madeline Albright and Colin Powell, and journalist and author Fareed Zakaria.
An independent, nonpartisan membership organization, the CFR also includes a think tank, the David Rockefeller Studies Program. Composed of more than 70 full-time and adjunct fellows, the program covers the major regions and significant issues shaping today’s international agenda.
The council also publishes Foreign Affairs magazine and disseminates its research and high-level discussions with world leaders through videos, audio-recordings, and unedited transcripts.
