The Lawyers Association of Kansas City (LAKC) elected litigation attorney James M. Humphrey as president. Humphrey, who is a shareholder at Polsinelli Shughart, will serve a one-year term following previous leadership roles as vice-president and secretary.
“Being a lawyer is not only about being committed to your clients but also to your community,” said Humphrey. “It’s deeply rewarding to carry out the mission of the LAKC and a tradition of our firm.”
Humphrey advises clients in commercial litigation and legal malpractice defense. He has extensive experience in antitrust, shareholder disputes, officer and director liability, class action, contract disputes, insurance coverage and RICO claims. Before joining the firm, Humphrey served as a law clerk to the Honorable Gary A. Fenner, United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri. He has made numerous appearances in Missouri’s federal and state courts, as well as various other jurisdictions, and has represented clients located throughout the United States.
Humphrey earned his law degree from Creighton University, and earned his bachelor of science in criminal justice and criminology from Metropolitan State College in Denver.
