Jury hears testimony in discrimination case

When Dennis Jenkerson was named chief of the St. Louis Fire Department in 2007, he held a lower rank than the deputy fire chief passed over for the job. Jenkerson is white. Deputy Chief Charles Coyle is black. Coyle’s race-discrimination lawsuit against the city of St. Louis is taking place this week in the St. Louis Circuit Court.
