NFL asks to delay lockout ban pending court appeal

National Football League team owners asked a federal appeals court Thursday to delay enforcement of a ruling ending a lockout, while the players sought time to reply to the league request. The NFL told the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that Judge Susan Richard Nelson in St. Paul, Minn., “brushed aside” legal obstacles in a ruling ending the lockout earlier this week. Nelson Wednesday denied the league owners’ request to stay her April 25 decision in the antitrust lawsuit filed by 10 players, led by New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
