‘Railroaded’ forewoman gets $1.3M

A Jackson County jury on Wednesday awarded $1.27 million to a woman whose attorney said she was railroaded out of her career as a train forewoman because of gender discrimination. The decision came on the heels of Tuesday's favorable verdict for Serena Eickhoff, to whom the jury also awarded $120,000 in compensatory damages in her discrimination and retaliation lawsuit against Union Pacific Railroad. Eickhoff, of Oak Grove, claimed that the railroad's male management began harassing her shortly after she was promoted to the position of forewoman in spring 2007.
