Jury awards $6M over infant’s death from bacterial infection

A jury awarded more than $6 million to a couple that alleged Saint Louis University's failure to diagnose and treat a bacterial infection led to their 6-month-old son's death. A St. Louis jury awarded Dewayne and Suzanne Blankenship $80,000 in medical expenses, $3 million in past noneconomic damages and $3 million in future noneconomic damages. The case was filed before the 2005 tort reform caps.
