Lawyers rally behind tornado victims

As the residents of Joplin began the long process of digging out from the deadliest tornado in more than 50 years, help came in the form of neighbors helping neighbors and from all parts of the state. Some lawyers here, like Brad Barton, were both the givers and recipients of help. Barton’s office is now a heap of insulation, wood and aluminum. Anybody driving by can see a wooden desk inside the destruction and toppled leather chairs. A filing cabinet with a missing drawer cover stands several feet away. Court filings, drenched form the tornado and the following storms, are left exposed in the cabinet.
